The best approch would be to go and look at our idea page and the
various guides on the wiki for potential GSoC students.

In particular you should join our IRC channel so we can meet you and
you should start looking at wesnoth and code something/submit
patches/fix bugs. All that is detailed in our student guides in the
wiki
