Re: FW: New Version Notification for draft-ietf-csi-dhcpv6-cga-ps-02

Hi Sheng,
In this draft you are describing in Sections 2 and 3 a number of things DHCPv6 can do for CGA.

It seems like there is a disconnect between CSI which has originated this PS work and DHC where the protocol
work needs probably be done.

My question is if there are any plans for a follow up requirements draft on possible solution work to be
undertaken in DHC?

Regards,

Behcet

Re: FW: New Version Notification for draft-ietf-csi-dhcpv6-cga-ps-02

Hi, Behcet,

In Hiroshima, when we made the first presentation after our draft have been
adopted, there was little response from CSI WG to work on the gaps
identified in the draft. And as far as I know, CSI WG is not accepting new
work now.

So, I assume the follow up requirements can be continue in DHC WG. However,
it fully depends on whether DHC WG is interested or not on each individual
requirements. After all, the several requirements proposed in
draft-ietf-csi-dhcpv6-cga-ps have different scenarios and impacts, DHC WG
may not be interested in all of them.

Best regards,

Sheng

Hi Sheng,

please, find a review of your document:

                  draft-ietf-csi-dhcpv6-cga-ps-02.txt

1. Introduction

The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol for IPv6 (DHCPv6) [RFC3315]
can assign addresses statefully. Although there are other ways to
assign IPv6 addresses [RFC4862, RFC4339], DHCPv6 is still useful when

<JMC>
I don't understand why RFC4339 is referenced because RFC4339 describes
main ways to get the IP address of a DNS server.
Now, IMHO, you may mention RFC5739.
<JMC>

an administrator requires more control over address assignments to
hosts. DHCPv6 can also be used to distribute other network
   configuration information.

2. Coexistence of DHCPv6 and CGA

Hi, Jean,

Thanks so much for your comments. It does help us to improve our draft. All your comments have been
addressed in the new 03 version.

Sorry for taking so long to react. I was in travels for a couple of assignment.

Best regards,

Sheng
