True. I would ask the author, or assume they are GPL since they are in
the .orig.tar.gz from cm-super in GPL. And Mickael once mentioned that
he got the ok to distribute the files under GPL. (But maybe it was from
the .pl file he was talking)

I attach the quick hack manpage I wrote.

I fixed the man page link and the wrong standards version. Last lintian

Freeware is a dangerous name; Peter used "public domain" in his mail.
This is less ambiguous among software developers, but since the term is
undefined in many legislations (I think it's only defined in english and
derived legislation) it should be clarified. A statement like

This software is in the public domain. You may freely use, modify
and/or distribute it.

is common. It would be good if you could ask Peter whether he agrees
with that.

Fixed. I gave the .orig.tar.gz a new version to reflect that change.
I tried a while to fix thge last lintian warning about the man page.
I created the following file:

hille <at> kloetzer:~/pfb2t1c2pfb/pfb2t1c2pfb-0.2/debian$ more lintian-override
# non-ASCII in man page, better fix known?
pfb2t1c2pfb: manpage-has-errors-from-man usr/share/man/man1/pfb2t1c.1.gz

and installed it as pfb2t1c2pfb into /usr/share/lintian/overrides.
However the warning remains. I guess we should simply ignore it.

Now it is lintian clean. Attached is a diff from your current version

Thanks, Norbert.

I downloaded the package from tug and installed it on a testing (etch)
system without any problems.

In a few days, I hope that cm-super will migrate to testing and, then, I
will be able to tell you what kind of boost I get when one installs
cm-super with the C version of the unpacking utilities instead of the
Perl ones.

Thanks again for your work, Rogério.

But why do you package this as a separate source package? Aren't the
source files included in the cm-super_$version.orig.tar.gz one gets from
CTAN?

No. The pfb2t1c and t1c2pfb is introduced by the diff.gz. These
program were written by the package Peter Szabo. Norbert could
simply build another bin package from cm-super.

Advantage: we don't introduce another source package
Disadvantage: to build pfb2t1c2pfb one need to download the 60MB
tarball of cm-super (just to get these 2 C-Files).

I'm still a little bit more for a separate pfb2t1c2pfb, as it is not
really related to cm-super.

But they are on CTAN, in a Debian subdirectory. Surely the CTAN masters
have asked the cm-super maintainers whether this location is in order?
And now it's there.

That's a point. cm-super is Architecture: all, but the buildd's would
have to download the big source of cm-super just to compile two tiny C
programs.

That's an other valid point. Still it might be a good idea to create an
"upstream" project, if only on alioth, and not package as Debian-native.

I would suggest that you as upstream maintainer release a version x.y.

Upstream can already contain the debian stuff, or it contains only the
necessary files.

Then as a debian maintainer create a package and I hope Frank will
sponsor it.

Frank, Norbert I believe I gave you write permissions on project

In principle yes. But currently I plan to put what time I have in

This is not true, Hilmar. They are NOT introduced in the diff.gz, but
they are present in the .orig.tar.gz AS DOWNLOADED from CTAN!
Frank is right. The problem is that the `upstream' cm-super from CTAN
already contains a very very very old debian subdirectory which I don't
know why is still there.

They were not contained in the pts-tetex-cm-super_0.3.3.orig.tar.gz
by Mickael. I believed you'd use the same sources. Sorry for
