MMS, Sony Ericsson, Wammu

Hi,

I've just installed Wammu and it seems to work quite well with my Sony Ericsson Z610i. It does however not retrieve mms messages from my phone.

I searched around on this list as well as google, and from what I could tell mms support for SE phones is limited, but as the hits I got were a year or more older I thought I'd ask anyway. Does Wammu support mms retrieval for any SE phones (notably Z610i)? If not, what about Gammu/Gammu+? I've somewhat limited time to work my way into handling the backends, so if the GUI would do it for me I'd be thrilled, but I suppose I'll take what I can get.

Thanks for a great program either way,

regards/

I don't know any way to get MMS from SE phone. If you can show me some
documentation how to do it, I would happily implement it.

Re: MMS, Sony Ericsson, Wammu

Hello,

thanks for your reply. I investigated this further on the Windows side, and even found in the documentation for SE's own PC Suite a note stating it was indeed possible to retrieve MMS from phone to PC. However, upon contacting their support to inquire just how this was done, I was told it was a typo and that it is not possible.

If it can't be done on the manufacturer's own software, I suppose it's a bit much asking for it to be implemented in gammu/wammu. :-)

Cheers!

A.

PS. Been mentioned before, but for reference: while it's not possible to export the actual MMS messages, it can still be possible to export their contents. Images (and presumably videos and audio clips etc) can be saved to the phone memory and transferred as files rather than as messages. This should in theory also work with text-only messages, but when I tried copying the text and pasting it into the notes application, I found its maximum text size is very limited. With a text application that supports larger files, it *should* work... DS.

Well it would not be first time when gammu can do more then vendors
software, but somebody has to find way how to do it :-).
