David, Goto http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.php and through the link Ubuntu Breezy (5.10), 5.0.4, locate the: KERNEL_VERSION Filename 2.6.12-9-386 hsfmodem_7.43.00.01full_k2.6.12-9-386.deb.zip Unpack under Linux with: unzip hsf*.zip and install with: sudo dpkg -i hsf*.deb Subsequently test with: sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf At the lines with ; use $ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf to put in your personal information, removing the ; and < > sysmbols Save and try a dialout with: $ sudo wvdial THis initially install only provides 14.4 speed service. There is no alternative to paying the fee for full speed 56.8 service Do presently get the the BreezyGCC_3.4_i386.tar.gz from http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/smartlink/ You will need its resources later, when you upgrade your kernel and may have to compile your own drivers.
