Book licenses

What are the licenses under which the 'free' lisp books are made
available online ? Specifically I am interested in SICP, PCL and On
Lisp.

The reason I ask is that we are putting together a DVD of some lisp
resources and would like to include the above books on it. The DVD is
for private circulation only (if that has any relavance).

TIA.

They are copyrighted works.

I guess you'd have to ask permission to the owners of the copyrights
before copying them.

OK. Just to know before I mail the authors, is such permission usually
granted ?

Re: Book licenses

I don't think there's any clear "usually" here. One of the books you
listed, PCL, is still in publication, so permission would probably
need to be cleared with both the author and the publisher.

Basically it boils down to, just ask the copyright holders, because no
one else's opinion really matters in the end if they disagree.
