so did I, but when I upgraded 2 4.9.6 it automatically switched on again.

changing does not help so much: it falls back 2 "chat messaging mode"
everytime I restart cicq ...

Too simple, I know, but have you taken a look at ~/.centericq/config
? Correct permissions ?

There should _not_ be a line like this in it:

chatmode icq yahoo msn aim irc jabber

there's not :-}

thank's 4 that hint: i had a closer look now & can introduce U 2 the
new feature:

-> when a user disables chatmode 4 all protocols, the "chatmode"-line is
erase in the config file by 4.9.6 ... and after a restart, the default
"chatmode 4 all" is chosen.

Konst...? :-]
