a few items

Hi all,
I just got a few items here I want to give to you, if someone is
interested in taking care of those...

First, we want tkdnd for windows to be shipped with our beloved 0.96
windows release, but you can't just download and use the windows binaries
available in tkdnd website, because they don't have a pkgIndex.tcl file...
so here's what you need to do :
http://amsn.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=6848
Also, there is tkdnd 2.0 which is alpha state I think, and looking at its
man page, it looks a lot nicer than tkdnd 1.0.. it all works with
generated events.. nice huh ? you think we should plan a port to 2.0 when
it gets out or "if it works, leave it like that" ?

in here : http://amsn.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1205 you can
find an image that doesn't work with TkCximage.. we plan on doing
something to it ? Phil ? no more plans apart of the rewrite ? you're free
to decide, but if some people use this image as DP and amsn crashes.. for
me, it's a critical issue...

 from this thread :
http://amsn.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1177&view=next items 4
(status being reset to 'no activity' even if user has a custom state to
'away') and 1b (after a quit, the nickname is not restored to its
pre-custom-state nick) : can anyone confirm that and if so, add it to 0.96
TODO ?

And finally, the most interesting one :
http://amsn.sourceforge.net/forums/viewtopic.php?p=7122#7122

Can't reproduce the error...
It only fails with it... The only thing I can do is to update libpng to the
last version... I let you decide if I do it : it's ready to be committed...

Are we going to continue to ship libpng? Probably yes, but they should
only be used if a special switch is given to configure, right?

Re: a few items

I would say keep it because we'd need it for compiling in windows for
example, but do this :
1 - make it use libXYZ if found on the system, use the shipped one if not
found..
2 - make it use the shipped one for windows and mac binaries
3 - linux binaries should be built WITHOUT those libs statically linked,
but make them dynamically linked to the libs and have those libs as
additional dependencies in the packages...
4 - generic packages like bitrock installer (and autopackage IF
autopackage has no support for checking if those libs are isntalled
+ install them automatically)
5 - let's update the version we have in the repositories to the latest
available one!
6 - let's update the version we have in the repositories to the latest
available one!
7 - let's update the version we have in the repositories to the latest

Shouldn't we remove libpng and zlib, and all that crap from amsn SVN ? and
leave it as a dependency ? add the dep in the configure and we're done ?
just like what Sander did for FC5 ?
I think it's the best way to do it... the only way it should be.

Yes, unless they are patched? (I don't know). Then I guess we have to
do the same for tkdnd, but leave it optional.

opera 9 bug it seems, this time it went through, but the first time, the
only way I could see it was to enable the 'view all headers' option, there
I found it inlined in the source of the mail.. without the option I could
only see the text :
attachment:/129/amsn-0.96-tkcximage-locallibs.patch

but nothing more...
(When you open an attachment in an email, it uses this type of url.. but
that doesn't work)

I'm going to have the 2nd part of my exams next week. It will be

For the moment, that beta is crap : no configure .... but looks interesting.
I'm trying to get tkdnd-1.0a into gentoo. As they're searching for
tcl/tk maintainers, that's not easy. That's why, if some gentoo users
are reading me, can you test that ebuild :
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=137496 and reply there if it's
working, here if not :D It should work on amd64 and ppc, but i
couldn't add those keywords to the ebuild.

Yes but tkdnd2.0 is not ready for linux yet, only drop, no drag yet (not
that amsn uses drag at the moment but the drop also gave me some error,
even though i ported the code to use the new api (gave the same error
with legacy code) But yes, if 2.0 gets out we should support that (in my
opinion just switch to the new api).
