provisioning: Bug or feature?

Hello list,

I’ve imported nodes with provision.pl. then I added these in surveillance categories with the WebUI.

After that I changed a detector and synchronized the requisition group. Now all involved nodes are removed from the surveillance groups.

Does anybody know why? Is it normal?

Thank for Info.

Re: provisioning: Bug or feature?

I can’t answer your questions specifically, but I would assign the categories to the nodes inside the requisition.

If it's any comfort, you're not the first to be stymied by this: http://issues.opennms.org/browse/NMS-4842

According to the devs, this is working as designed - synchronizing a provisioning requisition will clobber any node-specific settings that aren't defined in the requisition. The solution is to assign surveillance categories using policies in the provisioning requisition...but there are some issues with that as well depending on your use case (c.f. NMS-4951 and NMS-5059).

-Andy

P.S. As I mention in NMS-4842, there should at least be some safety net in the web UI that warns/prevents you from editing the surveillance categories of provisioned nodes through the "assign category" web UI. Feel free to create an account on issues.opennms.org and vote on the bug if you agree. :-)

Re: provisioning: Bug or feature?

Ronald, Andy, thank you for your help. I added categories with the provision.pl script. Now the association stays after synchronizing.
