Since upgrading from Ubuntu maverick to natty, I've been getting this message a lot while using dpkg or aptitude: #v+ dpkg-query: warning: parsing file '/var/lib/dpkg/status' near line 91930 package 'slrn': error in Version string 'pre1.0.0-26': version number does not start with a digit #v- I asked about it on ubuntu-users & got this suggestion: Contact the developer and ask them nicely to update their package naming convention? https://answers.launchpad.net/launchpad/+question/147533 What do you think? BTW, the version in the natty repository is "1.0.0~pre18-1.1", so your maverick version is still ahead. :-0 thanks, Adam ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EditLive Enterprise is the world's most technically advanced content authoring tool.
