Hi Gerald!

Good news :-)

Any ideas, when you want to make the current dev 1.1.x the new release
branch (aka 1.2.0)? Probably next Sharkfest?

Regards, ULFL

June is so very far away and there are a ton of cool new features in the trunk.
Do we really have to wait that long? :)

If I copy /trunk to /trunk-1.2 around March or April, that should give us time
to make one or two testing releases followed by 1.2.0 in time for Sharkfest. We
would then have to stabilize the following by June:

  - Native OS X support (which depends on Imendio)
  - GeoIP support (a Windows DLL needs to be located or created)
  - Any other features we add between now and next spring

Does this sound reasonable?

Well, if we are in a hurry, we might be able to have a christmas release
- SCNR ;-)

Sounds reasonable.

Hmmm, seems to be a commercial product. How about community driven
hostip.info? At least it seems they provide the whole database for
download ...

Obviously!

Re: Wireshark 1.0.5 is now available

Hi Gerald,

Yes it does. We might need to put up on the Wiki or so "a things to do before we
can call this release ready" list. The items you listed can be on there as well
as trying to find volunteers to work on the update of the user manual. Stuff
like that.

Thanx,
Jaap

Native OS X Wireshark (was: Re: Wireshark 1.0.5 is now available)

I've been using the native OS X version of GTK with Wireshark for a
while now and it works works almost perfectly. The only problem is that
XPM images don't display :(, but I've got a patch pending in the gtk+
bugzilla that fixes this:

  http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=502997
  http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=123409&action=diff

Hopefully it is picked up soon.

Steve
