Re: Inverter Earth Connections - general

As promised, I have emailed Charles Sterling and asked the relevant questions, mentioning that I had used
the 3-light mains socket tester. His reply is brief and to the point: "Its all ok, the mains testers are for
mains electric not inverters as they have no earth".

Any comments on this - Julian, perhaps?

I cant say anything
he has missed the point
What questions did you ask he is a bit of a difficult person if you ask
the question the wrong way you will get this type of answer
Best to ask him if you can bond N>E on your inverter and see what he
says

I'm glad you wrote that Julian. I
thought it was just me!! I don't
think he likes speaking to folks
like the average users of his
equipment (e.g. me) prefering
techie types.

He alkso doesn't understand that us
'users' find his rambling
instruction sheets, where one
sentance can go on for 6 or 7
lines, hard to follow.

My old Sterling 1500w inverter/charger was of the floating earth variety, ie
+ and - 110VAC, so no hope of bonding the earth to the earth point of the
boat.
