If it has XFS support, then an xfsprogs RPM should be available.   
OpenSUSE has one: http://en.opensuse.org/Package_List/10.2/CD1.  You  
can of course continue to compile from source if that's what you want  
to do, but I just wanted to point out that there's an RPM available  
so you don't have to build your own if you don't want to.
