Organizations are increasingly relying on business analytics as a strategy for growth in these challenging times. Analytics supports organizational agility by providing timely and actionable insights into emerging opportunities and threats. Effective delivery of business analytics requires a sound data management foundation, as well as analytics capabilities such as unstructured data management and visual data analysis. This workshop addresses these opportunities in the following three segments:

1.       Unstructured Data Management – Unstructured data includes textual data, as well as audio, image, video, and other types of data without a pre-determined data model. The volume of unstructured data is increasing rapidly, requiring advanced techniques for tapping into the wealth of contextual information buried in them. Various techniques, such as text mining, are used for managing unstructured data.

2.       Visual Data Analysis – As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Visual representation of data can simplify understanding of the information buried in volumes of data sources. Visual data analysis extends beyond business graphics, revealing insights such as trends, correlations and clusters, without relying on specialized statistical techniques.
Interactive Workshop: The audience will collectively select a problem related to data management in support of analytics, and the TRIZ inventive problem solving methodology will be used in a facilitated manner to solve the problem. Audience participation is highly encouraged.
