ACS to build cable link to Oregon

Anyone see the article in Sundays paper about ACS laying another fiber
optic cable to Oregon.

It looks like it also picks up Nikiski and Homer. Shame they don't pick
up Kodiak while they're at it. The State Rocket Launch facility could
probably make use of it. Not to mention the commercial fishing industry.

I like this little excerpt from the provided link:

"The system minimizes exposure of the Turnagain Arm communication
corridor to earthquakes, landslides or terrorist acts."

Then if you click on the 'Project status' page at this link:

http://www.icardllc.com/projectstatus/

Now tell me, how secure from terrorist acts is this? ;)

The obscurely hidden missile batteries, machine guns and landmines do it for
me.

Re: ACS to build cable link to Oregon

I guess I missed that. Last I knew Rich McKinney, Dee's brother that
works at the Kodiak Launch Facility and that used to hang out with us,
was crying for bandwidth.
