you could check the latest version 4.0. i would, however, suggest that yoy
give your postal address and ask for a copy. you can send a mail to
bosslinux@... or to my id srinivasans@...

as of now, the "crap" has been used
(a) to generate photo i-cards by tripura electoral commission -- gimp on
boss platform was the alternative chosen for ms & photoshop in 400 plus
desktops used by at least twice the no of operators/govt staff. training,
implementation, usage and final delivery were done in 2 1/2 months, thanks
to support from Tripura IT Directorate and some of their enthusiastic
members.
(b) in 130 plus desktops in BSNL Hyderabad who floated a tender for linux
compatible desktops, opting for BOSS compatibility certification. The
vendor may not be keen on resolving driver and related issues, but cdac hyd
and the active/knowledgeable in-house team are working together to ensure
sustained operations.
(c) other installations include Indian Navy, some of the NIC centres, etc.,
issues arise -- work is being done on getting them resolved.

I understand it is being used, but I don't see a community following
behind it. It will be helpful, if you can clarify the purpose behind
BOSS Linux. Through the examples you have provided, I kind of get the
idea that it is primarily meant for govt agencies who, IMO, typically
require a local technical support.

Also, for privacy reasons, many people including me might be hesitant to
give postal address. Is there a place where one could get a copy of BOSS
Linux ?

My question was in relation to the "Vendors" tab they have on the
website.. And, Since BOSS Linux DVDs are mailed home for free, I was
just wondering if they have a list of places in chennai where one could
collect it.
