Fingerprint device thingy

I got me a new laptop at work, and it's got a fingerprint device for logging on and things like that. I installed pam_fprint and it almost works. Well actually it does work, but only the first time. Subsequent logins, sudo's and gksudo's fail. On the command line I get the following error:

aes2501:error [dev_init] could not claim interface 0
fp:error [fp_dev_open] device initialisation failed, driver=aes2501

Any ideas? If you have a fingerthing on your laptop, did you use the fprint interface?

Can you give us more details about your fingerprint sensor? Unfortunately mine is still not supported.

AuthenTec AES2501 Fingerprint Sensor in a Compaq 6710b laptop.

I did try searching and I couldn't find any solution to this problem, which seems to occur quite a bit. I was hoping someone actually had one set up. I did see that thread that SeanCarl identified, but nothing useful there.

I have mine setup, however it is using pam_thinkfinger instead.

Its an STMicroelectronics with:
idVendor 0x0483
idProduct 0x2016

Unfortunately thinkfinger seems to be specific to the thinkpad device only.
