I have a major itch to purchase one, but is the only way to connect a raspberry pi to a monitor via a tv only? Also at the last meeting someone mentioned they are coming out with a quad core version? does anyone have any idea as to when?

Raspberry has two outputs for video out: RCA (yellow phono for composite video - normally to TV) and an HDMI connector (either modern TV or monitor). If you want to order, order now. It takes a couple of months to arrive. If you order from farnell/element14 you can get one in about 2 weeks time. I ordered from them 2 weeks ago and already have mine. There are quite interesting gadgets out the for 65$ (like wifi Mini X). One problem for most of them is heating.--
