IT Expo Conference Track

wassup folks

IT Expo has sent me their 'conference tracks', which are basically topics designed by them which we can discuss at the venue.

basically these are:
  1. harnessing the power of open source
  2. telecomms and voip
  3. data mgt and storage sol'ns
  4. seo, the internet and security
  5. it security for the enterprise.
Obviously, I've reserved the open source topic. Now, keep in mind the ff.:
  • These are merely suggested topics. We don't have to do them, or we can suggest new ones if we like.
  • If you're gonna make a suggestion, I would prefer that you be the one to do it. Otherwise, I do not have the facilities nor ability to choose anyone.
  • I assume LCD projector, etc., are all available. As for the exact time and date, susunod na yun pag na ayos na nila.
  • From experience, 15 - 30 minutes per topic is good enough. Longer than that and you better be a really good speaker.
  • If you or your company wants to tackle the other topics, please contact them directly. I highly recommend the small businesses here to consider doing this for promotion purposes. Sulit yan.

I'm actually considering doing a demo of my PIII notebook happily running Xubuntu, as 'proof' that you can still make use of old hardware. Then maybe borrow a more powerful, newer notebook to demo compiz to show what we can do with newer hardware.

We don't have to do anything fancy. Since the target audience are business people, we just need to show that it's a viable alternative, and not something that requires magic or rocket surgery. Just good looks.

Gabriel,

can i ask also those companies / schools / organizations / consultants
who want some video Linux-centric promotion in the LCD projector in
the Linux / PLUG booth, to submit their videos early?

who sets the rules on what to show? can i charge advertisers to cover
lamp time, breakage and travel from cavite where i'm from?

how many decibels of getting attention are we allowed to emit? :)
