The first look at Plone4.1/ site_setup/Diazo is that it seems the URL specification wants either a rules (xml) file or a manifest.cfg file.  I haven't read whether it's easy or not to create those.  Screen shot attached.  The Basic or  Adv settings don't offer an html site URL entry either.  I'll get a closer look at the documentation soon.

I haven't tried it, but the docs definitely say that you may use a URL for the theme source specification. If it's not working, it's a bug.

Late Friday I activated plone.apps.theming and went into a plone test site.  Was a little bummed to find that one cool piece from Deliverence is not there.  That is, in the end of a Deliverance (or maybe it was xdv) setup, it gives the option for a static URL with which to skin the dynamic (plone) site.  I don't see that option in the app.theming module (Diazo theme part of site setup).

Hey folks!!

The Plone theming sprint is on for next week, October 18, after 5:30pm. Steve has graciously offered to host us all at his place, 274 Cottage Circle. We'll be working on a few new UC Davis templates using Diazo — people of all skill levels are welcome!

Steve says parking isn't great around his house, so park at Davis Commons if necessary. 

Bring your laptop and some beverages to share, and we can collectively order pizza or something for sprint-fuel. :)

Greetings!

At our last meeting, it was unanimously decided that our next endeavor be to create several UC Davis Plone themes using Diazo¹! 

Where/when?

We're shooting to make this a post-work event — from 5pm onward or whenever you can make it — sometime in mid-October, at a location conducive to both alcohol and wifi consumption. 

Pre-reqs?

This sprint is open to everyone, regardless of skill level with Plone or theming! We can buddy up, so you'll have a chance to learn the ropes together with everyone else. If you're interested in joining, please take a minute to fill out this Doodle so we can figure out the best time and date to accommodate everyone.

Why?

Aside from the obvious reason that is enjoying the company of your local Plone crew, helping to create these themes will provide you a learning experience with Diazo and Plone, and will be the first step in creating easy-to-Plone starter instances for the whole campus!
