Quick Look to next file

Hi,
Love QS and the new Quick Look feature, but is there a way to move to
the next file with the QL window open as spotlight does? Right now
pressing the arrow keys with QL window open moves down the text file
or to the next page of a PDF rather than to the next file. Is there a
key combo I'm missing?
Thanks,
Mark

If you select multiple items and Quick Look them, you can flip between them with the left/right arrows. ⌘A
will select all results. Personally, I prefer having the ability to scroll. Let me ask the opposite
question: How can you scroll the document in the Quick Look panel if you opened it via Spotlight/Finder
(besides using the mouse)?

Re: Quick Look to next file

Hi Rob,
Thanks for the replies. In terms of the action I've found, if I open 1
PDF in QL in QS, I can scroll down through the pages using the arrow
keys - if that is the question you were asking. I think it would be
nice to be able to do both actions with different key combos (as I
have many PDFs with the same first author and selecting them all would
be a big list), but cool.
Best,
Mark

Let me chime in. Using the trackpad if you have one, otherwise there're AFAIK no known shortcuts.
Only caveat in QS' QL panel I found so far is that you can't select text in it, s. https://groups.google.com/d/topic/blacktree-quicksilver/QaRC5lxxdAk/discussion

Re: Quick Look to next file

Got it. Well great. It would be cool though if while scanning through the pages of one PDF you could leap to the next in the list (without having to select all of them or more than one) by hitting the right arrow where the down arrow flips through the pages.

Not a bad idea, as long as the performance doesn’t suffer. (That would require all results to be
pre-loaded into the Quick Look panel every time you use it, whether you want them or not.) When I test by
using ⌘A, it doesn’t seem to cause a problem.

Re: Quick Look to next file

Yeah, my issue with using ⌘A is that not all the results that come up from a search can be viewed with Quick Look (I'm trying to find a certain PDF, and would type "Smi" for "Smith, 1990" for example), so when I hit the space after ⌘A, Quick Look does not open.

With some Quick look trickery it would be possible to do this without pre-loading all the files (pass off the → and ← keys to Quicksilver from the Quicklook panel), so it wouldn't have the performance issues you discuss. I will put it on my thinking list!

I think that for coherence sake I would leave → and ← and use ↑ and ↓ for navigating the files directory list and ↖ ⇞ ⇟ ↘ for navigating the document —fn + arrow keys in a MBP.

Re: Quick Look to next file

That's a nice hint I didn't know about.

I'd leave this behaviour as is and open a feature request for 'Quick Look to next file' with arrows + modifier keys.
