I have meant to add timekeeper support to cpi(4) for a while, putting its
32 bit timer/counter to use with half an eye to meaningful benchmarking.
Don't know if I can come up with a day or three of uninterrupted time this
year, though, to pick up the loose threads...

No problem with the option, but I'd just hate that default, being a
Macintosh user for 20+ years and all...

While you are mentioning it - mac68k should move to wscons fb support one
of these days.

And I'm sure lots of NetBSD people hate black-on-white, being NetBSD
users for however long.

Clash of cultures: are NetBSD/mac68k users more likely to be Mac users
putting a toe into the NetBSD waters, or NetBSD users picking up Macs?
Seems to me that should control the default.

(I have no horse in this race. I will not tolerate reverse video any
longer than necessary to build a kernel with it fixed, but I have no
problem with a port defaulting to it - I build my own kernels anyway.
As for the question above, I'm not really competent to say; if I had to
guess I'd guess the former is more likely.)

Ah, nothing like the smell of fresh paint, eh? ;o)

I wondered for a moment why the black-on-white-console never really was
contested as long as I have been on this list and its predecessor (16
years?) - and then I remembered: You are not supposed to use the mac68k
consolem much, anyway. It is slow, non-preemtable (I guess), and for
anything more fancy that is not X11, there is misc/dt which you can set up
to your heart's content. I am sure the FAQ knows about it.

There have been quite a few changes to wsdisplay since it was first
written - I suspect there may be some speed gains to made by checking
that macfb is taking full advantage of wsdisplay...
