Sharp Zaurus shutdown issue

Okay, so I finally got around to upgrading my Zaurus SL-3200 from OpenBSD 4.2
to OpenBSD 5.0 and Ibm having an issue powering down the system. When I
issue bshutdown bhp nowb the Zaurii powers down as expected but the
compat flash wireless network card bpowerb and blinkb lights remain
on. The cards lights also remain lit when the system is suspended. I never had
this problem with OpenBSD 4.2. When running 4.2 everything shutdown/suspended
correctly. Does anyone know if there is anyway to resolve this? The wireless
CF card is made by Buffalo and is model WLI2-CF-S11.
Thanks in advance!

Hi Jesse,

How did you upgrade from 4.2 to 5.0?

Is there any difference in the ifconfig output between 4.2 and 5.0?

Re: Sharp Zaurus shutdown issue

I upgraded in release increments. 4.2 to 4.3, 4.3 to 4.4, 4.4 to 4.5, 4.5 to
4.6, 4.7 to 4.8, 4.8 to 4.9, 4.9 to 5.0. I first noticed the issue in
version 4.4. I've also noticed that after the system powers down if I remove
the card and reinsert it the lights come right back on. The only way to get
the slot to power down is to enter the

Have you tried a snapshot?

I've been upgrading via zaurus snapshots recently, rather than the
releases...there was a reason but my brain hasn't remembered it.

Thanks for the pointer, I'd not spotted the problem as my battery is
shot and so my Zaurus is tied to the mains most of the time.

I agree... I don't think the problem is with the network card (wi0) but
rather the scoop driver. It appeared to power down the CF in OpenBSD 4.2.
What changed within the driver after 4.2 to cause the problem?

No.

OpenBSD can only run on Zaurus SL-C3000 / SL-C3100 / SL-C3200.
