FreeBSD 9 TRIM support?

Anyone know if FBSD 9 will have TRIM support?

It's in the wishlist: http://wiki.freebsd.org/FreeBSD9

I'm thinking of upgrading my computer to ZFS when PCBSD 9 comes out.

Interesting article about it: http://www.ertyu.org/steven_nikkel/blog/archives/2010/01/my_zfs_server.php

My interest was piqued about all this from this article: http://debuggable.com/posts/why-are-you-not-using-a-ss d-yet:4d64ad6f-22d8-4eca-99e8-765acbdd56cb

That's a good question. I've not heard either way if TRIM is in 9 yet. May want to ping one of the FreeBSD lists with that question :)

Isn't TRIM specific to SSD only IIRC?

Re: FreeBSD 9 TRIM support?

What is IIRC?

My interest in this is because I would like to install an SSD but don't want it to wear out prematurely.

Re: FreeBSD 9 TRIM support?

IIRC = If I Remember / Recall Correctly. It won't wear out prematurely but you'll likely want to get one of the ones that have come out this year as models from a year ago or more suffer from diminishing performance problems as the life span and usage increases. Read Anand's SSD section for current info: http://www.anandtech.com/tag/storage

Re: FreeBSD 9 TRIM support?

As an aside, BSD 8.2 fully support TRIM under UFS. I don't know about ZFS though.
