is there any help here?

Monday, 5 days ago, I came home with a new computer loaded with Vista, and I have been on it almost constantly trying to figure it out, neither of my printers work with  it -- I am desperate and want my old XP version of Windows back -- is that possible or should I box the thing up and take it back to Office Depot?  Help......

Re: is there any help here?

Since you've already agreed to the licensing terms, chances are that they won't take it back for that reason. They might have a 30-day unconditional return policy or something. If that's the case, take it back. Then go buy a xp-loaded machine or buy a vista-loaded machine, tell them you don't accept the licensing terms and they'll be forced to take Vista off -- then you can buy XP. If they refuse to, tell them they legally have to and that you'll have your lawyer on them faster than they can say upgrade.

Of course, the best option is to go for GNU/Linux. I suggest Ubuntu.

By the way, a nice thing about Ringo's suggestion is that you can try
Ubuntu without installing it. (That is, you can run it directly off the
CD, without touching your hard drive.) So you can check how well your
hardware (e.g. printers) work before deciding whether or not you want to
install it for real.

This site's really good at explaining what GNU/Linux is:

If you get stuck with anything, there's probably a GNU/Linux user group
nearby:

Re: is there any help here?

Actually you can also get SuSE 10.3 Live CD at:

http://software.opensuse.org/

Or if you have a XP Pro disk you can do a dual install w/Vista, and
then, never use Vista.
