not much of a plan -- just yet!!!

at this point in time, and to say the LEAST, i've only a very general outline for an upcoming tour and would
greatly appreciate your oh-so well-informed suggestions so that i can start planning its specifics

the general idea is to head out from the greater phoenix metropolitan area -- where i'm currently laying
over -- as soon as is feasible (see below);  into southern utah (for areas like glen canyon and zion);
through nevada (deserts...love riding the desert!); to wind up on california's monterey peninsula, no
later than mid-june (while, if necessary to work the plan, i can land there earlier)

the guiding conditions and potential impediments are:

excessive cold, at higher elevations (i.e., i try to ride and/or camp in nothing too much lower than 40
degrees) and consuming heat, at the lower ones; camping out, exclusively, and camp free, whenever
possible (i need to keep this on the cheap); not going too very far, offroad (i ride an unsuspended, touring
recumbent tadpole trike and pull a trailer), but, at the same time (and needless to say), i'm not really big
on sharing with a lot of motorized traffic

i realize that the above are very broad parameters but they're merely offered to serve as a germ for
conversation regarding advised routes, good (free-?) camping sites, points of interest and times to go
