Skandix Clutch pressure plate, and throw out bearings

I seem to remember some posts to the effect that these products do not work in a Saab 96 as represented. Am I
correct? If these parts don't work, is there another source for ones that do? Thanks for any thoughts you
may have re this subject.

Re: Skandix Clutch pressure plate, and throw out bearings

I believe it might be that the clutch disc itself was mis-fabricated and just needs to be corrected....something I just had MSS Motorsports do for $30.  I have bought these kits from several sources all with the misfabricated disc.  Get the kit...see if the disc is ok (relative to which side the outer metal ring was rivited to the center hub...see past posts) and send it out or not.  I believe I was still ahead of the game.

Thanks Harry. I don't need a clutch yet, but I'd like to find one to have ready when I do.

Here's the photo Jack Lawrence set me that shows what to look for. http://www.flickr.com/photos/swedechariot/7108306739/

Chances are you'll get the "No Good" version and will have to send it to Jack for repair.

I ordered a clutch kit from PartsTrain and both the disc and the pressure plate were defective, making me
wish I'd just ordered the works from MSS in the first place.

Re: Re: Skandix Clutch pressure plate, and throw out bearings

Motor Sport Services (MSS) is Jack Lawrence's vintage SAAB performance tuning and parts business, located in Jamestown New York. No web presence but if you Google "Motor Sport Services Jamestown" you should find his contact info, as well as some interesting articles that he's written.

Jack designs and manufactures performance parts for VSAABs and has done so since at least the early 80s when he was SCCA F national champion in his highly modified Sonett. He deals in regular (stock) parts for VSAABs too (like clutch kits). Pretty much, when I'm stumped or feeling flush or just need something done right without too much farting around I call Jack, and he sorts me out, and tells me 20 things I didn't know about SAABs. Lovely guy.
