Spare Tire for '72 95 Wagon

Something better than a dry rotted bald Firestone bias ply is called for. Does anyone have a used 155 80R15
for sale? I hate the thought of fighting with a 165 width in putting it under the seat and stretching the
cover...or does a 165 fit?

Harry, I am pretty sure a 165 will not fit. A 155 is tight.

Do you mean a 95 (1999 on) rim or a 95 rim (V4)?

Harry --
Original tire is long gone... The 900 space-saver "tire" albeit obviously small, fits very nicely and
since it is always "under cover" and won't be used until/if/when an emergence arises, it suits my needs
just fine. :-)

Almost there - Spare Tire for '72 95 Wagon

Seeing '87 on Classic 900 compact spares for sale on ebay with 115-70r15 tires (whose inside diameter would
be to large for the 95 V4 80R15 rim?), was the compact spare tire from a pre '87 900?

a 15 inch tire is a 15 inch tire.... the 115 in narrow and the 70 is short.

Another trick I learned from Tom Cox is to flip that space-saver over, so you have more space for emergency stuff.

Re: Spare Tire for '72 95 Wagon

Oh hell. *That's* the problem. I'll admit that in forgetting that the 165 was not the OEM tire, I did curse the
Saab engineers a bit. I finally did get that 165 to fit, but I had to push one of the seats forward off its
tracks -- and it was still a struggle.

Might help to let the air out first.

:O)

... or maybe a little bit of lubricant on the seat belt bracket.
