Mid-Summer Tango Week Plus

The Early Bird Discount for the Mid-Summer Tango Week Plus in Indy with Oscar Casas and Ana Miguel, expires on July 20, which is just a few days away.  Activities include two weekends of workshops, mid week classes, milongas, practica, performances and more. Festivities begin on Friday, July 27, and finish on Sunday, August 5.  An Early Bird Discount is available for persons registering for the All Events Pass or a Workshop Weekend by the July 20 deadline.  To register in advance, either print this e-mail and use the attached form or visit www.tangoindy.com, click on "Details & Registration" under Oscar's and Ana's name and print the second page of the flyer. 

Oscar Casas grew up in Buenos Aires, breathing tango. His father was a milonguero who organized milongas in Parque Patricios, a tango barrio in Buenos Aires. Oscar is a well-known figure in the milongas of Buenos Aires, and his distinctive style is greatly admired by other milongueros.

Ana Miguel grew up inthe Almagro barrio of Buenos Aires in a family of well-known bandoneon players so tango music is in her blood.  She studied and taught dance in Buenos Aires and has danced in some of the most famous tango shows in town.  Her current position is teaching tango with Oscar Casas.

Oscar’s and Ana’s improvisational dance reflects some current techniques of different styles of tango but never loses the spirit of the Old Guard.  They agree that tango is “a feeling that is danced”.  For them, tango is endlessly fresh and fun.

Schedule of Events  

Workshop Weekend I (July 27-29) – Focus the Foundations of Tango. Examine the fundamental principles of tango.  Learn the secrets of executing simple movements well.   The Friday workshop is suitable for all levels of dancers.  Saturday and Sunday workshops are suitable for advanced beginners and beyond.

Workshop Weekend II (August 3-5) – Oscar & Ana “Unleashed” – The Workshop Topics will be at the discretion of the Instructors.  Suitable for dancers who have been dancing regularly for at least a year.

Registration Fees

An Early Bird Discount is available for persons registering for All Events or a single Workshop Weekend. The “All Event Pass” includes admission to all of the events above except the Hoosier Pitch-In on Sunday and is $225 for non-students and $150 for full time high school, college and grad students* with valid IDs.  The Early Bird Discount for either of the Workshop Weekends is $130 for non-students and $90 for full time high school, college and grad students with valid IDs.  In order to qualify for the Early Bird discount, your registration and payment must be received by Friday, July 20 (no exceptions). 

A la Carte Fees – Payable at the door

Workshop Weekend I or II (Fees are for each weekend).  Entire Weekend Including Milonga - $150 for non-students; $105 for students*.  Friday only - $30 for non-students; $20 for students*.  Saturday or Sunday workshops only - $60 for non-students; $40 for students*.  Saturday night Milonga - $10 for non-students; $5 for students*.

Monday, July 30: two classes.  Persons attending are asked to stay for both classes.  $30 for non-students; $20 for students* 

Wednesday, August 1 – Class & Practilonga- Non-students: $20 for the evening.  Students*: $15 for the evening. Class only: non-students, $15, students*, $10. Practilonga only non-students and students*: $10. 

Private Lessons:  Oscar and Ana will be available for private lessons during their entire stay.  Call David at 317-407-8181 if you are interested.
