Thank you for the response.. I had just one more question, 
Do I have to create a separate module and incorporate the change or
could I simply create a subroutine in my conf file and write it there?

I know the 'name' comes from the $segment->name method.. 

So the 'ref' 'start' and 'stop' would be $segment->ref
$segment->start and $segment->stop

Is this right???
