Callout form for hyperlinks

Probably I'm being too dense, but I've been unable to find a way to
create the "call-out references" mentioned in
<http://docutils.sourceforge.net/docs/user/rst/quickref.html>. A
search for "call-out" or "callout" in the documentation has found
nothing except for the mention in this file.

Am I missing something? (A gentle nudge towards the appropiate doc
page would be welcome, of course.)

You can use the "target-notes" directive:
