Developer Group

Hi all,

It is clear that most members of this group are interested only in the philosophical and social aspect of free software. I noted that one of the previous posts says that software development is less important compared to free software philosophy (I wonder how he came to that conclusion). ILUG is a  "user" group and  "this List discusses GNU/Linux & GNU,    GPL Software" . ILUG is doing a great job in bringing in more free software users. But guys, we need free software developers. How can free software sustain without developers?

So my fellow members, how about starting a sister group for free software developers(ILDG-Cochin: Indian Libre Developer Group  - Cochin) where we can discuss free software programming tools platforms and other technical stuff ? This might help attract computer science students too. More free software developers, more free software. More free software, more users and a better world.
Let me know your thoughts about this.

Re: Developer Group

Dear All,

It is interesting to note up to what extent a simple query has extended the discussion...

Please note whether at the end of the discussion does the first post got a valid answer on how to "Practically reaching Linux to the world"? We need to find a solution for that post.

I suggest fix a meet and finalize the philosophical aspects. The coordinator may consolidate the viewpoint of majority opinion. Upload the draft document and in the next meet validate it. There ends the problem.

A member has already posted:  "people who code to talk more and people who talk to code more". I am not a developer but support the suggestion to have a separate thread or group for developers. Because serious developers need a dedicated mailing list. It is essential. It is essential to flock the developers.

regards,
Smart Kundassery.
